An Open Message to all our Valued Customers – 17 March 2020 As a Pub based in a small hamlet, we feel it’s necessary to inform you of our actions over the coming days, weeks & perhaps months. The Duke of Edinburgh in Woodside is a hub of the community. At the Duke we employ over 30 people – some full-time, some part-time, and some just supplementing their education fees. The vast majority of staff are locals, with their deep roots within the surrounding towns and villages. Just like our valued patrons, we all require an income to survive – so this current crisis is a very unwelcome situation for us all. However, that said, we are very happy to advise that we are still, and until further notice, very much open for business. We will continue to operate as normal as possible and will remain open for business as usual until such time we are instructed not to. A minor caveat being that there may be some changes to our normal operating procedures, whilst some items from our menus may become unavailable due to a limited supply chain. We will obviously do our very best. Regarding everyone’s actions relating to the virus itself, we do recommend following the latest government guidelines, with a daily update from the Prime Minister being essential viewing. The government and NHS websites have up to date information, instructions and recommendations. We are constantly checking these. We must add, though, that those who are most vulnerable, or those showing any signs of infection, please do stay at home. Here in-house, all of Team Duke are fully trained in the correct handwashing procedures and the sanitising of the premises. We will continue to be be offering full table service to those who wish to dine in, but we will be limiting bookings and implementing a strict sterilising program between customers. There are now fewer tables available as we have taken it upon ourselves to have have a safe distance of another free table to create adequate space between customers. We do understand that if you feel that you do not wish to dine with us at this time, but if you have already made a reservation please do give us plenty of notice of any cancellations so we can manage our team accordingly. That said, we will be offering our take-away collection for food and drinks for those wishing to enjoy our fayre at home. Also, those wishing to pop-in for a pint and quick chat may wish to take a nice meal home with them. We will certainly oblige with whatever is your choice or option. We do hope for your continued support, which will enable us to be here at the end of this crisis. We will continue to keep you updated as more information comes to hand. On a personal note we would like to express our sincere thanks for the overwhelming messages of support that we have received and hope you all stay safe during this unprecedented situation. With our very best wishes, Nick, Annie & all of Team Duke |
