Yes, another Chelsea legend was at the Duke!!
Roy Bentley, the Captain of the Chelsea title-winning side of 1955, was at the Duke on yesterday for his Sunday lunch (29th July).
As well as scoring more than 150 goals for the Mighty Blues, Roy was a member of the England world cup team that played at the world cup in Brazil in 1950.
Now in his late 80’s, Roy was more than keen to sign Chelsea books, my own 1950’s England shirt and other memorabilia for me and a few regulars here at the Duke of Edinburgh. Some excellent stories from the old days were all well received.
Another proud Chelsea legend at the Duke!
