Chopper Harris Night – Monday 11th April
Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris was at the Duke on Monday 11th April 2011. This was a 40-year celebration evening, with Ron coming to the Duke with two other former Chelsea players who played in the Cup Winners’ Cup winning team of 1971; Peter ‘The Cat’ Bonetti and John Dempsey.
It was a wonderful evening, with the usual stories & jokes. £10 covered entry and the ever popular hot buffet.
Chopper has now hosted four evenings at the Duke, with each one being a sell out and everyone having a great time on each occasion.
Ron has hosted an evening together with Bobby Tambling, Chelsea’s top goal scorer. Bobby was welcomed by everyone and congratulated on his memorable Chelsea career and goals as he circled round the Duke signing books & photos.
The previous time to Charlie’s visit Ron came with Charlie Cooke, the Chelsea left winger who terrorised defences in the late 60s and 70s. Charlie also had some wonderful stories of his days in a blue shirt that he shared with us all.
